Hasder and Movement of Morphou Region for Solution and Unification of Cyprus (MMRSUC): Working for Tomorrow at Omorfo/Morphou

The preservation of the traditional cultural traditions and values unique to Cyprus is an issue that is important to both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Hasder is providing a unique summer school and a weekend camp opportunity for children, youth and families of Omorfo/Morphou to interact in innovative and fun way to preserve their heritage.

A first summer school will be held for 20 days for youth aged 10 to 14, which will include enjoyable activities such as traditional songs and dances, environmental activities, sports, arts and handicrafts, activities and a weekend camp experience. A second summer school will follow the first for 19 days for youth ages 15 to 25 with a slight modification in activities.

These summer schools will provide a fun way for all levels of society in Omorfo/Morphou to learn to protect and promote their traditional cultural folklore while cultivating trust, communication and cooperation between both communities. activities in order to research, protect and promote traditional cultural traditions and values of Cyprus.

Hasder was founded in 1977 and changed its status to a Foundation in 2001. Its main objective is to organise educational, artistic, social and cultural activities in order to research, protect and promote traditional cultural traditions and values of Cyprus. The organisation has held international folk dancing activities, exhibitions, and panels. It has also has published periodicals and books and participates in bi-communal and peace building projects in Cyprus.
